FLYWAY EDUCATION APP
This is a project I made with a small team in response to a class prompt with the only criteria being "bird-themed".
My team was tasked with creating any project involving birds. This, of course, was an incredibly broad criteria, so we grew our project from the ground up.
We first began with brainstorming as to what exactly we would do. We jotted down all stories we had about birds, our associations with them, and anything we had heard about them in recent news. After doing this, we discovered that generally our team (as well as others in our class) either had negative experiences with birds, pet birds that received poor care, or didn't know or notice anything about them.
After this, we started making a list of idea that would address these issues. In the end, we decided to pursue community bird perches, informational park plaques, and an interactive bird app.

We sketched iterations for each idea, beginning with the perches, going to the plaques, and finishing with the app. After these sketches, we realized we didn't feel as passionate about the perches and that they would likely not be well-received by the community.
My group and I then moved into Adobe XD to create the prototype of the app. We conferred on color palette and design motifs, trying to incorporate clouds, the sky, and the logo's main "swoosh" graphic throughout the app.
We also strived to make the text simple and accessible, both in content and in layout, so that young children and older hobbyists would be able to easily access the app. Since our goal was to inform the community in a fun way, we wanted our app to be welcoming, interactive, and as easy to digest as possible.
APP WALKTHROUGH
This video is a walk through of the app's structure and how it would work if fully built out!
In the end, our app created a fun way to introduce education into the environment. It also provided insight into the business world, where we had to project our app's reception and future growth. We predicted the app could grow to include other animals, have plaques in the community to find (and could provide information to those even without the app), and could even work to provide animal habitat infrastructure to communities as well.
